Need Medication

Out of Medication
Please request all refills through your pharmacy
There are two main reasons for being out of medication.
  • First reason is because you chose to not plan ahead for your visit before medication ran out.
When you are running out of pills, and you have no more refills on the bottle, it's time to come in.
We may send a 10 day supply, of non-controlled medications.
If you are charged a full co-pay for 10 day supply, it's a painful reminder to schedule follow up prior to running out.
Be sure to have labs done prior to visit if you have labs ordered for diabetes, cholesterol, other issues, or wellness due.
We want to make informed decisions and explain details during visit.
If you chose not to plan ahead, you will need clinic or telemedicine visit so provider can review results.
  •  Second reason for running out is because you didn't request all routine medication during last visit to last until the next visit.
If you were seen recently, and forgot to request ALL routine medications, we'll send in refills, but remember to
Request all routine medication during your routine visit.
We do not call to let you know medication has been sent. Please check with your pharmacy.
If you did receive refills, but you go to a big pharmacy which says 'ask your doctor' when you shouldn't need to,
You may want to consider changing pharmacies.

Attention Deficit Medications are not allowed refills, but you may request refill through your pharmacy,
as long as your last visit was within 90 days.
Refills may also be requested through Patient Portal, and should be requested 3 business days prior to running out.
If you haven't been seen in 90 days, you will need a visit.

New Medication or Change Medication
The State Medical Board does not allow us to call in medication for issue we have not addressed recently in person.
Example: If you were seen last week for blood pressure, then have a sinus infection, we're not allowed to 'call in a z-pak'

In between visits, we may at our discretion, adjust the dose of an already known medication, up or down if needed.
If you need a new medication added, you will need to come in so we can review the risks, benefits, and options in detail.
As a quality provider, we cannot add a new medication without coming in to review what to expect from the change.

If your
Pharmacy requests change of medication brand, or
If there
is a recall on a medication,  and we need to change to another,
You will need to come in, or we can schedule a telemedicine visit.
This is for your safety.
A medication in the same family has it's own unique properties.
We need to review the options and plan in person
